Documentary series The Infinite World of Books is a seven-episode documentary series, produced by Brotéria and presented by Teresa Nicolau. The episodes, in Portuguese, each begin with a book from Brotéria’s century-old library—recipient of the Gulbenkian Heritage Prize — Maria Tereza and Vasco Vilalva—and unfold into contemporary conversations. These dialogues form a bridge between past and present, keeping the books active and alive through debate.
I conceived and directed the opening and ending credits from a perspective of care. Rather than illustrating content, I approached the book as an object — its volume, texture, weight, and material presence. The sequences focus on gestures of conservation, observing restoration as choreography, inviting the viewer to almost feel the grain of the paper and the density of the binding.
I also coordinated closely with the filmmaker Martim Braz Teixeira to ensure visual coherence across the series, and I appear in the first episode.
